We're taking our 3 year old to Rome in late August (Rome, then Tuscany, then the CT). For Rome, any recommendations for parks/playgrounds, a place to stop for 20 minutes in between sightseeing to let her get her energy out and play a little bit? I think I've read the Borghese area may have a playground/open spaces for kids to run around in. Any other recommendations?
We were in Rome without children but certainly saw dozens of them running happily around in the Villa Borghese
Neal - not sure what part of Rome you are staying in but there are plenty of small parks throughout the city. Certainly Borghese, with the zoo, paths, gelateria's, etc is a HUGE draw for kids... but I think you'll be able to find plenty of places! There are many parks and small piazzas where children play. Rome is not as "park-friendly" as say, Paris, but there are small areas throughout town.

Ron - we're actually staying at the Cavalieri Hilton (not an ideal location, but it was free with Hilton points!) The hotel has a shuttle every 30 mins that drops you off at Piazza Barberini. I anticipate we'll be doing early morning sightseeing, lunch, then shuttle back to the Hilton for a short toddler nap or pool interlude (esp if it's hot), then back out sightseeing in Rome proper around 4 pm.
