Hi! We are taking a week in Italy to see some of the places that we most wanted to see, and I am having a really hard time navigating if it is POSSIBLE to get between these places in an easy way! Can anyone comment on the train connections between these cities? Particularly getting to and from Volterra and Santa Margherita Ligure. Much appriciated!!!

Hi Lauren. It will be possible but very rushed to see these 4 places in a week. As far as train, they are all doable by train; but quite spread out. Look at a map to get a feel. 3 of the four are on a main train line; Volterra is on a spur from Cecina. Use web site trenitalia.com to see train schedules; use Italian spellings. For Santa M, use 'S. Marg....'. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Bob, Yes, it is cramming it in for 1 week...but it is really only 3 places since all we need to do it get to Venice by the end of the week. We are leaving for a cruise and will have time to see Venice when we return. We will have 2 days in each of the other places. Thanks so much for helping out on the train station lingo :) Is it best to buy tickets ahead of time? We are excited for the trip!
