Rome Vespa/ Scooter Tours ?

We will be in Roma mid June. Has anyone done this? We are looking at Scooteroma. One of us is very experienced with driving one themselves.

Thanks

Have you been to Rome? Would you feel comfortable on a Vespa in Miami, Jacksonville or Orlando?

I wouldn't feel comfortable riding through the streets of Rome on a scooter and I used to ride motorcycles. I think there are scooter tours where they drive. I might do a tour with a local driving.

Kathy, type "Scooteroma" into the search box at the top of this page and it'll bring up previous threads where it was suggested or recommended by posters who'd used them.

I agree with DougMac’s feedback. Rome traffic is like organized chaos. There is a distinct rhythm to the traffic flow, and it’s not a typical US major metro rhythm.

The scooter tour idea is awesome, and I’d recommend a tour with Scooteroma where you are riding, not driving. That way, you can enjoy the city and tour experience without wrangling a Vespa in a foreign environment.

Happy planning!

I don’t recommend those type of scooter/Vespa tours unless you are a VERY EXPERIENCED motorcycle/motor scooter rider. Riding on two wheels in any Italian city is not for the faint of heart. I literally lived on a Vespa or motorcycle in Florence, but I don’t know if I could do it now after so many years away from two wheelers.
