Looking for recommendations for vegetarian restaurants (or restaurants with vegetarian menus) in Rome. Though I am not a vegetarian I do prefer to dine mostly vegetarian when I travel.
I know of one that was pointed out to me by a local who said it was fantastic. Its called Margutta Vegetariano and is at 118 Via Margutta. It's right at the top of Via Margutta at the Piazza del Popolo where it turns into Via del Babuino. Check it out on Google maps. To check the name of this restaurant I googled 'rome+vegetarian+restaurants' and a whole list of places came up with reviews. If you try that it may help you find some restaurants close to where you are staying.
Just go to any place and order vegetarian Antipasti to get some get vegetarian cuisine.
Will you eat pasta? I know some vegetarians will and others won't. If the answer is yes, obviously, you can get pasta anywhere with just a maranara sauce. Antipasti minus the meat. Anyway, if you are not a vegetarian, it's a shame to miss all that good Italian food!!!! Have fun!!
The Italian cuisine is rich in veggies so you should be able to go to any restaurant and find something to eat. Margutta is a good vegetarian restaurant but it is a bit pricey. Also check out:
Obika at Piazza Firenze - it's a mozzerella bar with lots of greens and salads
L'Insalata Ricca at Piazza Pasquina near Piazza Navona. Large salads that can be your entire meal plus lots of other things for non salad eaters.
Ditirambo at Piazza Cancelleria, near Campo dei'Fiori. This is not a vegetarian restaurant the menu is very vegetarian friendly.
