Rome vacation

Hello, Fellow travelers!
My Husband and I are traveling to Rome and Assisi next year in early June. I am starting my research on hotels. I would like opinions about The Hotel Portoghesi. We are looking for a quiet and romantic neighborhood hotel in the historic district. According to RS guide book the Pantheon neighborhood sounded like it could fit the bill. Any advice, suggestions recomendations would be welcome! Thank you, Val.

If you want quiet and romantic - I recommend staying a short walk away from the Pantheon itself. That area is busy and bustling. Piazza Navona area would be quieter and more romantic.
Assisi is great. The whole town is quiet and romantic.

We rented an apartment a few blocks away from the Pantheon. I was so glad we stayed there. It was walkable to everywhere. We even walked to the Vatican. The areas behind the Pantheon were quiet. Our apartment shared an alley with a church, so it was very quiet.

There is nothing wrong with that neighborhood. It is peaceful as far as I experienced it. You are far enough away from Piazza Navona that traffic is diminished. We frequented a cafe there, Caffe Portughesi, almost every Saturday morning. Lots of Romans, few tourists.
