The taxi to center Rome is fixed at 48E for four people and luggage. You can catch the bus for 8E and train for 14E. The train is about 30 mins and the taxi/bus could be closer to an hour or less but heavily dependent on traffic and time of day. There is a night time fee for the taxi.

Be careful and make sure that you have a backup plan when using public transportation to the airport. We were in Italy two weeks ago and had experienced 3 public transit strikes during the 10 days we were there: metros in Milan, waterbus taxis in Venice and busses in Rome. We initially planned to take public transportation to Rome airport but decided to take a taxi instead as we did not want to miss our flight home.

Check with your hotel as well. Some hotels offer limo service from the airport. I generally don't like these things cause of the cost, but when you arrive, you are tired, its nice to know that you have 1 less thing to worry about. And if there are several of you traveling, it makes more financial sense. Glenn
