Rome- Transportation from FCO to Historic Center

We are arriving at FCO in early September and trying to decide best way to travel to our VRBO in Campo de Fiore. We’ve been offered a private driver for 70 Euros each way. Is it better to use a taxi or Uber from the airport, or do you have any drivers to recommend? Thanks

The taxi is probably the cheaper option: 55 euro flat fare imposed by the city (no tips required for taxicabs in Italy, actually you should never tip a taxicab in Italy, they are a privileged caste).

As you exit the terminal you will see signs to the taxi stand with lots of taxicabs queued up. There will be a line of passengers waiting for their turn, but generally the line goes fast. I generally go that route, but last June the line of people at the taxi stand was much longer than usual, so I opted for the train, since I was staying next to the Tiburtina station for one night.

It's up to you. 70 euro is not too bad either, just 15 above the taxi and probably they'll meet and greet you and take you directly without waiting in line.

To us, the extra 15 euros for a private drive is well worth it to have someone meet us in the terminal and wisk us to the hotel.
