(Rome) Transport ticket questions

Can I please get some clarifications on transport tickets.

With the 24, 48 and 72 hour ticket, do you need to insert ticket or tap everytime you use it or just the first time since it has to print the start time. My understanding for metro is that you need to each time in order to open the gates, but what about the buses and trams?

Are these tap or magnetic stripes? Some sites say it’s magnetic and some say it’s tap.

Hi
As i understand it after the first one you don't need to tap in again apart from the metro as you said; however, we were there in February and just used the tap and go contactless throughout the whole system. Can't be more expensive than the pass and can be cheaper.

you mean with your credit card? If there are ticket inspectors, how can you prove what time you boarded the train if you are using CC?

I can't say for sure how it works in Rome, but my city also accepts payment on transit via credit card, and fare inspectors carry around a small machine that scans your credit card and indicates to them whether you tapped onto the bus/train.

Hi
The inspectors scan the card (i believe). Not happened to me in rome but has on other transport systems that use cards. Everyone has to use a different card but i think apple pay, Google pay and Fitbit pay 'copies' of the same card can count as different cards and each person should use them same card all the time so the daily/weekly caps get applied correctly.
