Has anyone used Viator tours to see the Vatican museum? was it worth it? Should I go on a tour of the Colosseum rather than do it on my own? Only have 3 days in Rome.
Viator is a consolidator and I am not sure what you would get. I can tell you that Walks of Italy has a Pristine Sistine tour that gets you in early to see the chapel before the hoards descend. Pricey, but everyone we have sent on it has raved, and I have gone twice myself.
I second Laurel's recommendation of Walks of Italy's "Pristine Sistine", a fine guided tour that gets you in early before the crowds , and gets you out of St. Peter's by 12 or 12:30, leaving you the afternoon and evening for other sites and activities, a great thing when you have limited time in the city. Walks of Italy offers a 10% RS discount, as well as senior and junior discounts, if those apply to your group.
Actually, I believe they ended their senior discount, but the RS discount still works. I also heartily endorse both their Pristine Sistine tour and their VIP Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill tour. Well worth the money for all the valuable information in an entertaining manner, while skipping the lines.
