Rome tour suggestions:

Hi everyone,
We will be in Rome for 7 days 6 nights, and are looking for some advice on tours. We will be doing the Appian Way tour through Top Bikes and the Pristine Sistine Vatican Tour through Walks of Italy, but would LOVE suggestions on good food tours (both cooking and wine tours). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much- this is our first time to Italy and we are so excited.

Rome is such a wonderful city, we only had 4 days in June and we could have been there longer. For Food Tours, I would recommend the Eating Italy Tour and especially the Trastevere tour. https://www.eatingeurope.com/rome-food-tours/. They also have a food and wine pairing class with a Master Sommelier.

If you are taking a food tour, I would recommend that you take it early in your trip. We took ours on a Saturday and we were leaving early Monday morning. Our two college-aged girls were disappointed that they could not go back on Sunday to purchase the vegan cookies and the most amazing Suppli as both places were closed. Eating Italy will also give you recommendations on local places to try outside the tour and their website is great for planning food adventures as well.

Have a great trip,
Sandy

You will love the Appian Waytour through Top Bikes, I also loved the Testaccio food tour through Eating Italy. Testaccio has a long food history in Rome, being the site of a great food market and the historical site of the port where foodstuffs entered Ancient Rome. I also took the Twilight Trastevere tour by the same company. Liked it, but IMHO Testaccio was better. I also liked the tour through the Domus Aurea, which was Nero’s party house and which is still being excavated, thus tours limited to weekends.
