Rome to Venice

Hi, what is the best train option from Rome to Venice? Are there several trains to choose from. Thanks.

There are numerous high speed Freccia trains between Rome and Venice each day, and that will be the best option. Travel time is about 3H:45M as I recall, so the only thing you'll need to do is choose your departure time. Significant savings are possible with pre-purchased tickets, although the fast trains require compulsory seat reservations so you must be willing to commit to a specific train, date and departure time.

To add to Ken's comment, if you buy discounted tickets (called "Super Economy" and "Economy") be aware that those tickets are non refundable or non changeable if you miss the specific train you book (or if you change your travel plans), therefore buy them only if you are reasonably certain about your travel plans.

Do I have to reserve train tickets from Termini to Civitavecchia and vice-versa? Or, can I buy tickets at the train station? thanks

Are you getting off a cruise ship? You can always buy tickets at the train station.
