We'll be adding a few days on to our trip after our tour ends in Rome. We'll be staying in Sorrento and visiting the surrounding areas (Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Capri etc.). What is the best way to get around the Sorrento/Amalfi Coast area? And, what is the best way to get from Rome to Sorrento, and then back?

Depends on how you define best. Best for me is car and driver but cannot always afford that so it is generally the train which requires a change in Naples. There is limited direct bus service to Sorrento from Rome. One there you will use the bus to move around in the area.
