Rome to Positano... bus or rental car?

I am traveling from Rome to Positano (3nights) via train in June. My plan was to rent a car in Sorrento & drive to Positano. Should I take a bus to Positano from Sorrento and rent a car or scooter in Positano to avoid the parking fee's? Thank you for your help and suggestions!!!

Take the bus from Sorrento. You really want someone who does it every day to do the driving.

I suggest that you take the SITA bus from the Sorrento train station to Positano. Note that you will be on the cliff side of the narrow road down the coast. Don't get too nervous on some turns where the cliff outside the right window disappears. The road was not really built for the two-way traffic of today but the bus drivers seem to make it work.

Joey, driving is just fine...and actually, fun. However, there is not much parking in Positano, and if you have to park in a lot it will run you 25-30 Euro per day. This trip we stayed at the wonderful Hotel California, which has FREE indoor parking.

I would take a ferry from Sorrento to Positano. The ferry ride is much more enjoyable than the bus. You get a great view of the Amalfi coast scenery from the ferry - much better than from the bus.
