I will be fly into Rome from the US and renting a car. The following day we will be checking into a villa we are renting outside of Pienza for two weeks. I am looking for a recommendation for a town to visit and stay in for the night on our way up to the villa. A nice hotel with a good location would also be appreciated. Do hotels in the area have rooms with two double beds? I am traveling with a girlfriend and we were hoping to share a room.

The drive from Rome airport to Pienza is about 2 and 1/2 hours, mostly freeway. I don't know how late you land, but you could even go there straight without stopping, jet lag permitting. About half way there you go by Orvieto, which is nice. If you'd rather take the longer coastal route, either Capalbio or Porto Santo Stefano would be nice detours. Both are in the province of Grosseto.

We will be arriving around 10am but can't check into villa to late afternoon the next day. Wanted to stay somewhere we probably won't go during our two weeks inPienza. Do you know of a nice hotel in Orvieto? Thanks for your response
