Rome to Orange, France

Any great tips on getting from Rome to Orange? We are attending a wedding there. My thought is to fly from Rome to Marseilles and then catch a train to Orange, but I have no experience in planning this type of thing.

We are already severely shorting our time in Rome (only 2 nights), and we need to be in Orange by 4pm for a welcome event. The wedding is the next day.

Thanks for any help or ideas you can provide!

We flew into Paris, took the tgv train to Avignon. Stayed in chateuneuf depape and made outings to Orange and all the fabulous towns in the area. We have stayed in Arles also, which we loved but a little further from Orange. Rome in 2 days after a long flight really isn't giving Rome justice. My suggestion is to enjoy the beautiful area of southern France... you can drive and enjoy. So beautiful and great food and history.

Thanks for your reply, Laura. I didn't really make myself clear in this post. We will have been in Italy for 15 days, then we're attending a wedding in Piolenc, just north of Orange. All of our activities there will surround the wedding. Then we're taking a train to Paris to fly home. So really, I'm just looking for the best advice for getting from Rome to the area of the wedding.
