Rome to Nettuno

We are staying in Trastevere and taking a day trip to Nettuno. We have a relative who died in this region during WWII and will visit his grave and hopefully battlesights etc.

I know we can take a bus to the Roma Termini and then train to Nettuno but wonder if it would be better to have a car to visit Aprilia, Anzio, and the military cemetery.

What are the thoughts on renting a car for the day instead. What would be the best car rental location for easy in and out of the city. Perhaps taxi to car rental agency, there are 4 of us.

Thanks in advance!

I think you will be happy if you have a car to explore this area, otherwise, you are likely to need taxis once you arrive there. I rarely recommend a car, but this is a perfect example of when a car would be most efficient, especially for four people.

If you have extra time in the day, take a drive over to the Garden of Ninfa (booking required, though) and perhaps to Nemi, the strawberry town, in the Castelli Romani.
