Rome to Naples train date change

Due to a flight change in dates, we have to reschedule a train we booked on Trainline for Trenitalia from Rome to Naples . On the website it will not let me manage my booking (option is grayed out) and says I’m not eligible for a refund . The original train date was June 22 and I have to change it to June 20. I can’t call internationally so I’m going to try their online chat in the morning. Does anyone know if I should be able to get it canceled /refunded or date change ?

Good luck! If the fare you bought shows 'no changes or refunds' you may have a problem. I'd simply tell them the truth about the flight change and remind them they still have almost two months to sell your seat. Keep in mind though that they price their tickets that way and we bought them that way: no changes, no refunds. BUT sometimes kindness wins.

Please let us know what happens!

Was it a Super Economy Ticket? If so, you are out of luck.

Please note: for the Super Economy refund, change and access to a different train is not permitted.

Was it an Economy Ticket? If so,

You can change date and hour once up to departure, choosing a journey on same category of train, according to the ticket change procedure and paying the difference between the full price (Base) applied to the train used and the sum already paid.

If you bought your ticket online on this website or with Trenitalia App, you can change it following these steps:
display the trip to edit in your customer area (for purchases with registration) or in the section "Manage your ticket" (for purchases without registration);
select the option "Refund /Other changes";
select the travellers for which you want to make the change and choose the "Change ticket" choose the new date and / or time of departure and click "continue";
choose the train on which to travel and click on "select", decide whether to choose the seat or not and click "continue";
pay the ticket.
You can change the ticket with a BASE fare, paying the price difference. The terms of the BASE fare apply to the new ticket.

I am getting nowhere on the Trenitalia website/ chat line request. They ask for : N Cartafreccia (I Google translated it and got N cartridge) Also they dislike my phone number format (I included +1 and deleted the -'s) All I am trying to do is change the date of my train by 24 hrs. It is an Ordinaria 2nd class ticket from Florence to Assisi.
Thank you!!!

Ordinaria Is the fare of Regionale trains, the local trains with no reserved seats that can't sell out.

On the day you want to leave, go to the counter One hour before the Departure time of the Regionale train to Assisi you want to take and ask them to make the change. If they say no, buy a new ticket. You could do it also at automatic machines, but it seems to me you'd better note down the code of the new train and interact with a real person.

Cartafreccia Is Trenitalia's fidelity card and you Need an address in Italy to get it.

Isn't Trainline a third-party company that makes travel arrangements for people who don't want to deal with the national rail companies directly? I wonder if a booking has to be managed by them, and the rail company itself is not involved?

The OP has not described the exact character of the booking. Many people here buy Frecciarossa tickets between Rome and Naples, which are not changeable if bought at a discount. When we arrived over an hour early for our Frecciarossa return to Rome, they refused to allow us to use the train preceding our booking (which was not full) unless we bought a full-price, walk-up ticket for the train. So we sat on our bags in the Naples station until the train for which we had tickets.

Pretty sure the OP's trip is either over and done with or they're in Greece.
See the car rental post from from 6/25/19.

Thank you Dario for your explanation and recommendation. It would be helpful if there was clearer instruction as to how to fill out the requests for information on Trenitalia's website.
Thanks for Your comment, Travelmom! Please! Give me my paper and pencil back!!!

Claudia, hopefully this conversation can be continued on the other thread you just started. That way there will be no confusion between OP's question and yours.

The original question was posted on April 26 so I assume it no longer applies. However, I would be curious to know what happen to ulfsaxa12 problem and was the ticket changable. Since all of these responses are hitting his/her inbox, maybe we will find out how the situation was resolved.
