Hello! After I conclude the 7 day Rome tour I will be staying a few more days and want to go to Naples. I need ALL the recommendations. Hotel? Train? Private tours?
Hi mclisso, I will be doing the trip from Rome on March 17. I hope there are a lot of Irish in Naples! I will be following the advise of Rich Steves in his book. Do that and you can't go wrong. Jim
My cousins live near Naples and we have stayed there two times at the Hotel Piazza Bellini. It is really in the center of things if you enjoy city walks. We used our Rick Steves guide book for places to go and things to see including the amazing Cappella Sansevero and of course the Archeological Museum. Read Rick's advice about how to take a day trip by train to Pompeii and / or Herculaneum. Or hire a private guide - Rick has recommendations. In the opposite direction by train you can day trip to the Flavian Amphitheater located in Pozzuoli. It's the third-largest Roman amphitheater in Italy. When we visited there were no crowds or costumed Gladiators. Have a wonderful trip!
