Planning trip to southern Italy from Rome to Matera by car. We would like to break the drive up staying somewhere half way. What towns/ villages would be recommended?
We drove from Naples to Matera and enjoyed visiting Paestum. We then stayed at Maratea on the coast which was beautiful. This would require extra driving, but the route is very scenic.. From Maratea to Matera only takes a few hours of driving.
