rome to london 4 days

We are taking a Rick Steves tour which ends on 9/14 and our plane back to the US is on 9/19 from Heathrow. We will be in London for 5 days before Italy and are trying to decide what to do with the days after. Originally thought of going to Bath and the Cotswolds, but worried about ending our vacation in the rain in the country! Another thought - fly from Rome to Brussels to Bruge then back to London Not all that excited about Bath. Any suggestions (off the wall is fine!!)

Sherri, I'd say stay in Italy for the extra days - go visit one of the towns you enjoyed on your tour, or explore one that wasn't on your tour. Fly to LHR the day before your flight to the US, visit the one London sight you really wanted to see (but didn't) on your pre-Italy visit, spend the night in or near London and fly home the next day. Although...London will still be decked out from the Olympics - you might want to go spend some time there, as 5 days certainly won't be enough! Ah, the decisions... :) Dave

thanks Dave - so many options, so little time! Thanks for the
advice ! Do you think we can wait until the last minute to decide what to do - or should we plan way in advance? Like can we wait until a couple of days before our Italy tour ends and check the weather to decide where we want to go next, or is that too daring?

What makes you think it will rain if you are in a rural area? English weather is often better in September than August, but who knows?

Hi Nigel - thank you for the information - I looked at the weather history for England and they said September generally had 17 days with no rain which is almost 50-50 odds. Maybe that was wrong. I really wanted to go walking in the Cotswolds, but was worried that if we were planning on that and it did rain, there would not be much else to do there.
