Is there a passenger ferry service to Genoa from Rome? Or maybe La Spezia? I would like to extend a tour that ends in Rome with one or two days in the Cinque Terra, and ferry from Rome sounds perfect. I have not been able to find one by searching. If there is no ferry, can the trip be made easily by train? Any advice will be appreciated.

It is easy by train; there are even ES trains that go directly to La Spezia with no changes, on the route Rome to Livorno to Pisa to La Spezia. It takes between 3 and 4 hours, with the faster option being more expensive.

Not sure what the timing is, but you can go Rome (Civitavecchia) to Bastia, thence Genoa. Seems like I pain in the tail.
