Either works with our schedule and both have similar times. We just were trying to figure out if one is better somehow than the other.

Use the TrenItalo or ItaloTreno websites or apps to see the schedules that work best for you and to buy your tickets.
You posted when I was. Either train company will work for your journey. They are almost the same for Rome to Florence. Difference is state owned vs private company.
