Rome to Cortina d'Ampezzo - Best Route

Hi, My family of 3 is traveling to Rome for 3 nights in March then heading to Cortina d'Ampezzo for winter skiing. is there a direct train that goes from Rome to Cortina d'Ampezzo or close to that area? If not, is the best way to fly from Rome to Venice then take the train? Would love any feedback on how to get to point A to B and also, any great family friendly ski in/ski out resorts, am considering Hotel Tofana Cortina. Thanks!

No direct trains to Cortina. In fact there is no rail line to Cortina at all. Probably best is a train to Venice then a bus to Cortina.

I heard Cortina and then I thought "the snow train!" but sadly that's not the season for it (did it continue after the first season? I don't know)...

Train/bus combo takes a lot of time, but I don't think if I were to fly I would do Milan, maybe Venice?

Agreed with Sam!

Rome to Calalzo di Cadore via Venezia by train takes 7 to 8 hours. Calalzo di Cadore is about 35 kilometers from Cortina d’Ampezzo and is the closest town with a train station.

It’s likely much faster to take the bus from Venice or rent a car and drive from Venezia to Cortina. The high-speed trains from Rome to Venice take four hours
