We will be flying into Rome, and then catching a cruise ship. With little time in Rome, any suggestions on hotels near the airport? Can we catch a train from the airport to the port in Civitavecchia? Thank you.
You can catch a train from Rome-FCO to Civitavecchia. You will change trains in Rome. Two ways to do this. 1) the most popular way is to take the Leonadro Express from just outside Terminal C to Rome Termini and then take the train from Rome Termini to Civitavecchia. 2) From Rome-FCO, take the local to Rome-Trastevere where you will change to a train to Civitavecchia. Either way works just fine.

Just a side note that the hotels at the airport can be a bit pricey with poor food and service. Read the reviews on Trip Advisor. Usually, travelers are there for their last night before departure and the hotel people know this.
I agree to avoid the hotels near the airport. You'll pay a premium for the airport location and your only food option will be an overpriced hotel restaurant. Stay in the center even if it's only for 1 night.
We just came back from a 7 day Costa cruise Rome RT.
Arrived at FCO and took the local FM1 train from FCO to Rome Trastavere Station ( 5.50E aprox 30 mins )At Trastavere station transfered to the train to Civitavecchia ( 4.10E aprox 60 mins ) From the Civitavecchia station, it's about a 10 min walk to the port entrance, where you must wait for the free shuttle bus to your cruise ship. You can also get from Rome Termini to Civitavecchia via the regional trains, if you decide to stay somewhere near Termini station for your 1 night in Rome. I'd reccomend this, as at least you will be in Rome and can visit a bit, as there is nothing around the airport.
