How can i get to civita di bagnoregio on a sunday
Take the train to Orvieto. According to this Web page, http://wikitravel.org/en/Civita_di_Bagnoregio, there is no bus service from Orvieto to Bagnoregio on Sundays. You'll probably have to spring for a taxi.
jim, the "usual" method of taking a train to Orvieto and then using the Cotral Bus would be somewhat "challenging" on a Sunday. The small Shuttle Bus from Bagnoregio to Civita likely won't be operating on a Sunday either. ¶ Given the circumstances, the easiest and most direct method (and the one I'd probably use) would be to rent a car somewhere outside the city centre in Rome, perhaps the airport. An airport location will more likely be open on a Sunday (eg: the FCO location of EuropCar operates 07:00-23:59). The Orvieto car rental offices will more than likely be closed, so that won't be an option. ¶ The trip from Rome to Bagnoregio is only about 85 miles (depending on route) - the Guidebook has driving directions. Civita is a short distance outside Bagnoregio. ¶ Note that an International Driver's Permit is compulsory for driving in Italy, which must be used in conjunction with your home D.L. You can obtain an IDP at any AAA office. A GPS along with a good Map (Michelin?) would also be advisable. I travelled the route from by road from FCO to Orvieto in May (was actually going past Orvieto to an area just outside Pienza), and using the A1 should keep the travel time to a minimum. Happy travels!
