rome to capri

We only have a short time to see Capri and was wondering the best way from Rome to see The Blue Grotto. Should we take a train then rent a boat in Naples or take a tour? How easy is it to rent a boat and where do we do it?

That's ambitous! The wasit to get into the Blue Grotto itself will be a long time. If you are really set on doing this take tour. It is the only way to make it easy.

I would say that it is impossible to do it as a day trip from Rome. Maybe a guided tour, if available, but that is pushing it. The access to the Blue G is dependent on tides so there is really only a couple times a day or sometimes once when access is available. As a min you need to overnight in Capri.
