I'm going to be in Rome prior to my tour of the Amalfi Coast. I'd like to visit the birthplace of my father, Cansano. Is it better to take the Train or bus? I plan on staying overnight returning to Rome the next day.

I stumped trenitalia when I looked....according to Rome2Rio, it looks like the easiest way is to take a train and/or bus to Sulmona and then take a taxi the 9 miles to Cansano. But it looks like on trenitalia it is a combination of a fast regional train and a bus (or various regional trains). Doesn't look easy. But I looked and you could drive it about the same length of time, possibly less hassle.
