Rome tickets

I was looking at purchasing tickets for the Colosseum and the Vatican for July. Is it too early? I see a lot of time slots for general tickets for the Vatican are sold out but I do not see a guided entry or early entry option yet. Do those open closer the the visitation time? Thank you!

azabala217, there really isn't an "early entry" for the Vatican Museums anymore...or not a tour that allows entry before the general public without spending many hundreds of $$$, that is. I've highlighted the rare few of those at the end of this recent thread. The Vatican itself does not offer this option.

For tours offered by the Vatican Museums, yes, you are too early. Same for the Colosseum, if intending to purchase through the official website. Worth noting, the Vatican also doesn't have a combo tour for the museums+ basilica that includes direct, interior access to the church, only some independent companies. That can be a time and shoe-leather saver, plus eliminate having to stand in a potentially long line for St Peter's in the July heat unless arriving before the 7:00 AM opening hour.
