Rome--the Sunday Option--(Ostia Antica?)

Although we've left it a bit late, I'm starting to work out scheduling and reserving tickets for specific attractions for a week-long Rome visit (our first). One of the days is a Sunday and it appears from Rick's 2011 Italy 2011 book that some sites are not open or have limited visiting hours on Sundays. I'm wondering if Sunday is the day we can best allocate to a trip down to Ostia Antica. Are Mondays also problematical in Rome as to major attractions?

Personally think that Monday is worst than Sunday for closures. Sometimes referred to a blue Monday in Europe. The Appian Way would be a good choice on Sunday. One of the catacombs is open that day and the traffic on the Appian Way is heavily restricted on Sunday, making it fairly pleasant to walk or bicycle. The transit to Ostia Antica could be heavy on Sunday because of the beaches. OA is never crowded.
