I will be flying to Rome on 5/22/08 arrival 5/23/08. I would like to stay the weekend before heading out. I have been to Italy before but was not happy with the B&B I chose in Rome. Had to walk up 8 flights of stairs. That was not easy with luggage. Does anyone have a suggestion of a B&B for less than 80.00 euro that is nice??? Any help would be most appreciated>
What B&B did you stay at in Rome?
I am really not sure of the name. It was in 2004.
My wife and I went to Rome last March, and we stayed at the Hotel Italia. Rick recommended it in his guidebook to Rome. We were very, very pleased, and have since recommended it to friends of ours.
The staff was friendly and very willing to help, the breakfasts were good, and, most importantly, the room was clean.
If I remember correctly, there was a discount if you mentioned you heard about the hotel via Rick Steves and also a discount if you paid in cash.
It is within walking distance of the Termini train station, but it isn't directly near it. It's down a fairly quiet street. I don't remember the particulars, but you can look it up in Rick's guidebook. I highly recommend it as a good value place to stay.
Also...just as an aside...don't miss Ostia Antica if you have enough time. It's just outside of Rome, and very easy to get to. My wife and I enjoyed our time walking through the ruined Roman town of Ostia Antica more than anything else we did.
