We arrive at Ciampiano at 10:30 - can't get into our room until 5:30. Plan to store our luggage at Termini and take a bus tour of the city. Are there luggage lockers at Termini and are they safe?

Janet, I was going to suggest the same solution. I'm sure your Hotel would be willing to store your luggage until check-in time. It's also possible that your room might be ready earlier than expected. While there is a "Left Luggage" office at Termini, as Frank mentioned it's usually VERY busy with long queues. A check-in time of 17:30 is a bit unusual. Most Hotels seem to get the rooms serviced by mid-afternoon. Which Hotel are you staying in? Have you looked at the options to get from Ciampino into Termini? Happy travels!

Unless you are using an apartment, just go to your hotel and check in. They will store your luggage till your room is ready. The left luggage is on the lower level, south side or right side as you face the tracks. It is staffed and large storage area. Sometimes the line can be a little long. Very busy station.
