Rome Tram line 8

I have seen two different maps for this route, one originating at Largo de Torre Argentina, the other at a station called Venezia, both ending in Trastavere. I like the first option since it would mean a shorter walk from the Pantheon. However, my wishing it to be so has never really been a highly determinative factor in making it so. Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you.

Line 8 is the newest line of the system It also reaches furthest into the historic city centre, connecting it with Trastevere railway station. Work on an extension began on June 19, 2012 [5] and the new terminus, located in piazza Venezia, opened on June 6, 2013.

According to ATAC; Transport Company of the Municipality of Rome this is the most current map of all the trams

The 8 starts at Piazza Venezia and on the way to Trastevere stops just beyond Largo Argentina at Arenula/Cairoli. It’s not much of a walk from the Pantheon. Maybe 10 minutes to Arenula/Cairoli.

I used to enjoy it when the Line 8 originated at Largo Argentina, just across the street from the cats in the ruins, and the "Et Tu,Brute?" location. But alas, the route has been lengthened as said above.

Yes, Nige, I hear you about the change of location but the bus piazza at Largo Argentina is much improved as a result of the change in the tram route. And it is nice to hop on the tram at Piazza Venezia.

The new Tram 8 stop closest to Lago de Torre Argentina is definitely further from the Pantheon, but the walk is not bad. You still walk by the Lago and can peek into the ruins with many cats.
