Rome subway & tram repair

Reposting this under Italy instead of Transportation:

I saw these two articles on a news feed this morning.
Subway closures: https://www.wantedinrome.com/news/rome-closes-metro-a-early-jubilee-2025-works.html
Tram closures:
https://www.wantedinrome.com/news/rome-trams-out-of-action-from-may-to-october.html
Can a local or recent visitor provide any info of the closures impact? I’ll be in Rome mid-September and there are many posts from others visiting Rome this summer. The articles imply there are only a few stations involved. As always, thanks for your help.

Hey there, Horsewoofie!
It might help if there's something specific you need to know in addition to what the article + what the Roma Comune website states? Upcoming closure of the Spagna (Spain) and Ottaviano stations had already been announced, although no firm dates until now. Closure of the Vittorio Emanuele station is new, as is evening closure at 21:00 of the entire Metro A line Sundays -Thursdays (regular service hours until 1:30 on Fridays and Thursday except for closed stations) versus the just Ottaviano-Battistini section. "On the days of early closure, a replacement service will be activated, for which 76 shuttle buses will be used that will be on the surface at the closed stations."

They'd also previously announced the closure of the entire tram system, ,which I've never used.
Looks like they'll be doing some work at the Cipro (Cyprus) station but not closing it altogether.

The weekday early evening closure of Metro A during weekdays shouldn't be an issue unless you'd planned to use it after 9:00 or so at night? Great that you've posted this update! :O)

Rome's Metro doesn't have nearly the coverage of other major cities' subway systems, so visitors going somewhere they don't consider walkable often need to use trams or buses instead of or in addition to the Metro. That means closure of Metro stations may not have as much actual impact as one might think. However, Ottaviano is the station closest to the Vatican Museums, so that situation will require many visitors to change some of their transportation plans.

Hey Kathy and acraven,
Thanks for answering. I don't even know how much public transportation I'll use. Last time I visited Rome was four years ago. Took the tram once during South of Italy tour. We walked everywhere when on our own. I'll be solo this time and not going to Vatican (can't stand the crowds). I'm just not used to public transportation and not a fan of subways. I think I'm worrying for nothing.

Sights are planned. Most are walkable, except Ostia Antica (train?) and Appian Way (horse stable recommended taxi). I just have to get over my unease of walking at night.

Thanks again,
The Other Kathy

My concern with walking around Rome at night was the condition of the sidewalks in some areas. Some blocks are not well lit, so it's easy to stumble and fall. Which I did, more than once.
