Rome strikes 9/22/2025

I have family flying into Rome on Monday, Sept. 22nd. Will the general strikes affect them at the airport in Rome or taking a taxi back from the airport?

Possibly, yes. Typically things are not shut down completely, Strikes evaporate like a mist, or may set in like a fog, but it takes some flexibility to figure out what is available.

My approach on landing would be to check if either the FL1 regional train from the airport, or the Leonardo Express is running. It would be rare that both would be stopped, but you never know.

Then, have them investigate buses before arriving. Private bus companies may be running, going to Termini or other parts of Rome.

Taxis may or may not be on strike, but if the trains are not running, the line for taxis will be horrendous.

The other option is to bite the bullet and arrange a private driver.

They are saying this is a major strike... air travel excluded. In support of Gaza and it is nationwide. Taxis are expected to participate from what is being reported here in Emilia Romagna. Saying it is public and private transport that is striking.
