Rome - Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain Restoration

I have read they were working on the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain in preparation for the Jubilee Year starting in December. Has the work been completed? Are they still work zones?

Edit - A little online research shows the Trevi fountain is back in business but there's still renovation at the Spanish Steps.

you are correct, the fountain is open, as of November 3 (crowds around it are 20 deep almost all day long)
The Steps are closed, fenced off, you can look, but you can't go up or sit on them.

Yep, the fountain is splashing away but the Steps are closed until spring for renovation. I wouldn't feel too bad about that as, IMHO, that's one of the most overrated 'attractions' in Rome.

Anyone thinking they're really missing out? Just ask for alternate suggestions; there are oodles of those!

Agree about the Spanish steps. Only thrill was sitting at the same place as Audrey Hepburn....other than that, no big deal.

Yes , where Audrey is sitting is the main reason I would go to the Spanish Steps and as a unique angle to take a photo of the step with NO ONE on them would be an amazing shot. By the way where is the image of the stone "face " or was it a lion .. can't remember where Gregory Peck put his hand inside ?
Thanks ,

That's La Bocca Della Verità, in the portico of the Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin. It's a short walk from the Circus Maximus, and across the street from the Forum Boarium.

The church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin is worth a visit, almost no tourist inside, they are waiting in line to stick their hand in a pagan manhole cover (or so the story says).

Thanks all. The Walks of Italy evening walking tour that we are thinking about taking meets at the top of the Spanish Steps. We look forward to seeing the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon again after 50 years.
