Rome's San Nicola in Carcere

I would be grateful for information concerning Rome's San Nicola in Carcere (near the Marcellus Theatre). There is conflicting information on the internet as to when the church is open to visitors and in particular the crypt and ruins under the present church. Specifically I am hoping to visit on a Monday afternoon this Fall (which according to some websites is doable while others say access has been limited as of late to only Thursday mornings.) If anyone has recently visited the remains of the Republican-era rooms beneath the church I would be grateful knowing when exactly the rooms below are open. Thank you.

I haven't done this one very recently but your best source of information would be the official visitor's website for Rome:

The church's website is also included in the above link so you could email them if you would like absolute confirmation. As with almost any church in Rome, schedules can change unexpectedly due to services like weddings, funerals, etc, or necessary repairs.

There's no such thing as "absolute confirmation" when it comes to Italy. It's part of the charm. (^_^)

This is not something we research for our book so I would go with what the above posters have said.

It never hurts to reconfirm a day or two before setting out for an excursion that's out of your way.
