Although we have a general idea as to its location we would appreciate knowing exactly where Rome’s Sunday Porta Portese Market in Trastevere is located and the names of the streets it is held on. Say we are at the Porta Portese (the gate)—now where do we go? Which streets are the market stalls actually on? We are planning to start out at Piazza di Porta Portese and move toward and end up on Viale di Trastevere. Which streets do we take? What route would you recommend? We are interested in used stuff as opposed to new. Things (collectibles, books, trinkets, furnishings) and not clothes. If there were any antiques where might they be in the market--a specific area? Overall we are actually more interested in the experience and atmosphere than actually shopping. I am sure once there we could stumble around and find our way but due to some mobility difficulty and a lack of time to waste trying to figure out which way to go any specific information and suggestions will be most appreciated. Thank you Donna for your help. Maybe you are someone else could give me some additional information. In reviews I have read and in researching online several different streets and piazzas are mentioned. I was hoping to be told the names of the streets and how the market branches out from the Porta Portese (if that is even a good place to start from). I apologize if I did not ask my questions very well. We are just trying to find out the best way to go and judge how long we will be walking, etc. With limited time and mobility issues we cannot afford to get lost. Plus I have read that the market has or is in the process of being reorganized--one thing they are supposedly doing is separating the used merchandise from sellers of new items. That is one of the reasons I was hoping for more exact information. Thank you again.

I can't answer you question but I have gone the past two summers. Loved it. I didn't notice any rhyme or reason to it back in July.
