Rome Restaurants Non Italian

Been to Italy before and love Italian food. After a week or so I find myself craving something for a change. Anybody have a favorite pub or restaurant that is non Italian food? Thanks.

Don't know about favorite, but there is Flann O'Brien Irish Pub near Termini on Nazionale.

Considering the high number of African or Middle Eastern immigrants living in Rome, I would go for an Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant or something in that region. You probably don't have a lot of those in Spokane. They also have a lot of Asian restaurants in Rome (Chinese and Japanese in particular), but that's something you have a lot in Wash. State too (in Seattle at least). I don't have direct experience of African restaurants in Rome, but you can do a search on TripAdvisor. Otherwise you can always go to McDonalds. There is one near the Spanish Steps, right near the Valentino building.

Funny you should mention MCD's. A few years ago we spent a week in Florence. There was a MCD's across the street from our hotel. There was a line out the door day all day long. Will check on the Irish Pub. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've eaten Italian food in restaurants and at home for over 14 months with 3 exceptions (Christmas, and two Middle Eastern dinners). There's an amazing variety which I don't tire of, unlike in U.S. Italian restaurants where everything seems the same. But, I can highly recommend the Middle Eastern restaurant, Mandaloun, just of the Via Vittorio Veneto. Fabulous and not too bad on prices especially since the food is meant to be shared.

For Chinese food Mr Chow at Via Barberini, 94 (between Piazza Barberini & Piazza della Repubblica) is great.

I love Moroccan food, there should be plenty of options in Rome. And there's always kebab nation.

LaRae, If I'm craving a change from Pasta and similar foods in Italy, I sometimes stop at the Roadhouse Grill. The Hamburgers are good and they serve Taco chips and Salsa before the meal. They have restaurants in many of the larger cities in northern Italy (Roma, Firenze, etc.) but the one I usually stop at is at Roma Termini. Cheers!

YES!! We felt the same way and were walking near the Uffizi and saw 5 or 6 young adults sitting on the curb happily eating what turned out to be kebabs. In Rome:on the Via di Nero N80. Kebab Babilonia is owned by a very personable man named Muaid. His #1 kebab is big enough for 2 people and costs E5. My mouth waters just remembering it! You can only face so much panini and pizza!

The area on the right side of the train station (Via Giovanni Giolitti) is a big immigrant section, walk down that street and you'll find tons of ethnic restaurants (mostly Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, etc.), some of them are very good.

Did find some pretty good meals at the Irish pubs. There were jammed packed all night too. Had a great time in Rome.

In the train station (Termini) there is a food court with an ala carte cafeteria-type place. Roast chicken, potatoes, various vegetables, etc are available.

You've all provided very good info. I still find it amusing to hear a Chinese speaking Italian as a first language. On our last trip (Easter, 2012), our B&B host cooked for us just about every night. My blood sugar has never been as low as when I was eating his food. Maybe it's time for another visit to his humble place.

Mesob. It is an Ethiopian restaurant. We are there on our last night in Rome. We learnt about it through Katie Parla.
