Rome - Restaurants-Have you been here

I am going to Rome and would like to know if anyone has been to some restaurants and how they liked it:

Giolitti - several blocks away from the Pantheon for ice cream,
Santi' Eustachio Caffe - on Piazza di sant'eustachio,
Ristorante Tre Scalini -- on Piazzo Navona,
Forno -- place to buy bread or piazza on the Campo d' Fiore,
Piperno -- restaurant in the jewish ghetto - Via Monte de Cenci,
Hostaria La Vincenzo -- via Castelfidardo,
IL Gabriello -- near the Spanish Steps

Thank you.

Giolitti - of course, every time we are in Rome

Most of your other restaurants we have no experience since they tend to be in high tourists. They could be excellent but it is not where we look for good, local food.

Giolitti is well worth the visit. It's an old-school gelateria, with the marble counters and the servers in little hats. You order and pay at the cashier, then go over to the counter with the servers and fight with everyone else to get them to make your order. You have to pay extra if you want to sit inside.

For higher quality gelato, go around the corner to GromArt.

Giolitti

yes. Quite good gelato. My favourites are a bit more off the beaten path, however.

Santi' Eustachio Caffe

not yet, but soon.

The others, no. I like small local places, but that's just my preference.

We have eaten at Il Gabriello and liked it-and it is a small restaurant. Yes, been to Giolitti for gelato. There is Giggetto near the Jewish Synagog and it is adjacent to some interesting ruins-theater of Marcello maybe? Cul-de-Sac near Navonna is good-most of the items on the menu are from owner's family recipes. Armando near the Pantheon is really good but you will need to reserve.

Tre Scalini more for the ambiance of the Piazza. Very happening area in the evening. Food is ok, but not out of this world.
Better choices down the alley on the left side of the restaurant.

Giolitti, all hand-made and wonderful. Caffe Sant'Eustachio, the classic place for coffee in Rome.
Il Forno and Piperno are both very good. Tre Scalini is the place to watch people but a drink would be sufficient - most restaurants in the piazza are mediocre.

I'm going to Rome in two weeks. Are the Gelaterias open in winter? and what is the local choice for the Vatican area.

We thought Tre Scalini was vastly overrated.

Quirite-I googled Gelarmony and located it and it does get good reviews on Trip Advisor. Where is Fassi? I could not get any information on it.

Quirite, thanks for saying what I was thinking about Giolitti. Grom is no better. Try VIce on Vittorio Emanuele II near Largo Argentina, or Ciuri Ciuri also near there. These are convenient to the historic center. But for THE BEST gelato, Come Il Latte near the U.S. Embassy off of XX Settembre cannot be beat!

We have been to Cafe Eustachio many times and we've purchased coffee to bring home. The coffee is good and the place is popular. It is located very close to the Pantheon.

Buon viaggio,

We enjoyed Il Gabriello--good atmosphere and food, friendly service. Note that it's down a flight of stairs from the street. A fine restaurant near the Spanish Steps is Osteria Margutta on Via Margutta. It has an attractive colorful decor with very good Roman food and wine.

Yes to Giolitti's for gelato.

For a nice dinner, try Sacro y Profano's (might need to check my spelling). It's built in an old church. Very good dinner.
