Would appreciate suggestions a couple good dinners in Rome. We’re staying at the Hotel Smeraldo. The dinners needn’t be fancy....just looking for good food.

Head over to Trastevere and find a place that's crowded, loud and happy . . . with no menu in English if possible. RS has several really good suggestions but there are more. Have yet to have a bad or indifferent meal in that area! Before dinner, sit at a cafe by Santa Maria in Trastevere and enjoy the street performers and the people watching. I highly recommend Campari and orange juice - so very refreshing and you get some vitamin C!

Dar Poeta pizza is always fun. Roma Sparita has great cheese and pepper pasta. Both are in Trastevere, not far from Hotel Smeraldo.
