We will be in Rome in May and would love to hear restaurant suggestions. Thanks!
Rome is a massive, metro area. Where are you staying? And second, what do you want -- high end white napkins, local restaurants, pizza ???? Give us a hint. We can make dozens of recommendation but if the restaurants are not near your hotels or what you want then it probably is a waste of time.
We are staying near the Termini train station. We will be in Rome for 2 days so we will mostly be checking out the main sights in Rome and the Vatican. Thanks
We are not into fancy or expensive restaurants. So more like pizza and good pasta places. Thanks
Get on the bus (60 or 64) down Vittorio Emanuele II, and get off when you're near Campo de' Fiori. Walk to the other side of the piazza, down about a block to Emma Pizzeria, owned by the Roscioli family. Besides the Margherita pizza, they serve a fantastic version of Spaghetti alla Carbonara, also puntarelle salad, made with the stems & leaves of the chicory plant, only served in that part of Rome--worth the trip just for those two items. Also near there is Elle Effe, a Sicilian joint with wonderful fish. Neither are expensive in the least.
Of course, I'm sure there are great places near Termini as well.
I recommend Ristorante Alessio on Via Del Viminale located between the Termini station and Hotel Sonya. We ate there for lunch on our first day in Rome and dinner our last evening there. The food was excellent, good wine was inexpensive, and the service was good. It was a bit crowded in the evening, but it made for a cheerful finish to 3 weeks in Italy. The neighborhood is very safe and we felt comfortable walking to and from our hotel at all hours. We also ate at another restaurant nearby, next to a Vespa rental place, that was also good but seemed a bit more touristy. There are lots of choices near the Termini station.
