I would love some non-guidebook recommendations for restaurants in Rome. Nothing too fancy required, just good food (vegetarian options are a plus). We will do our share of wandering back streets for mom and pop places, but due to our group size (5 adults and 1 teenager) I suspect dinner reservations will be essential for many places. I also want to prevent a gravitation to the easy tourist options. Thanks in advance.
We used the Katie Parla App for Rome restaurants. It's available in the App Store. It was very helpful.
Our favourite restaurant was Da Teo. We would have loved to try Armando Al Pantheon but it was closed in August.

Ciao
Laura, since you seem to frequent the Prati, try Piacere Molise on Via Candia. I love this place!
Thanks guys! Quirite we are staying in the city center but will have to check out one or two of your Prati suggestions on our Vatican day. I will check out the other links and app too.
The Prati isn't particularly difficult to reach by bus from pretty much anywhere in the tourist areas of Rome, even on a non-Vatican day. The 492 bus goes from many parts; about the only bit it isn't too close to is the Colosseum and points south.
