Rome Rail Termini

My mother and I will be traveling by train from Florence to Rome, then must get to the airport. I know we need to take the Leonardo Express, but can anyone give me actual directions through the station to purchase tickets and get the correct train?

RonInRome.com does a wonderful job with his 'photo essys' and in-depth explanations; this link is for ARRIVING at FCO and taking the LE into Rome, so just do the reverse. BE SURE to click on the links he gives for "Buying a Train Ticket" and "Arriving by Train - Roma Termini". http://www.roninrome.com/transportation/the-train-station-at-fco Frankly, click on ANY of the links he provides; you'll learn something useful!

Michelle, You MAY be able to buy your ticket for the Leonardo Express at the station in Florence (using the automated Kiosks), although I've never tried. However, BE SURE to validate the tickets before you board the Leonardo Express. The Leonardo Express departs from Track 25, which is on the right when facing the trains. It's set back from the other tracks, so is a bit of a walk. There are frequent departures, so you shouldn't have a problem getting to the airport. Happy travels!

Thanks Eileen... Michelle, Ken is correct in noting you can buy your Leonardo Express tickets in Florence (or any train station) in advance. Just give yourself time ot wa;l out to Track 25! This link, Arriving at Roma Termini Station has a "map/layout of the terminal" and pictures of the Leonardo Express track. Here's how I would describe your walk. Your train will arrive (probably on tracks 1-12) and so you will exit the train, TURN LEFT, following the crowd to the station. Then, as you exit from your platform, TURN LEFT again. Head straight past all the tracks (1-24), which will be on your left as you walk. You'll go about 75-100 meters, arriving at Track 24. Here TURN LEFT again and walk out towards the satellite tracks - about 8-10 minutes, arriving at Track 25. (You'll see the signs directing you towards tracks 25-29) Look for the boxes to validate your tickets as you walk - they are everywhere. Here's the other link Eileen spoke of, Buying a Train Ticket at a Kiosk. Very easy!

Thank you everyone for your help. That was exactly what I needed. My mom doesn't hear well and I was hoping to eliminate as much stress as possible in an unfamiliar place. Michelle
