Rome Question

So, for utilizing time the best, can anyone tell me if it is better to visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine first or the Pantheon if I'm seeing them the same day?

If you go in Summer, they are all open from 9 to 7:30pm. In winter the outdoors places (Forum/Colosseum/Palatino) close earlier (about 4.30pm). The Pantheon closes at 7:30pm always. If it's a hot sunny day in July, I would avoid the Forum/Palatino between 1 and 4 pm. Near the Pantheon (Centro Storico) is probably where you'll end up for dinner, so I would do it just before closing time and from there go to dinner.

I agree with Roberto. The Pantheon is relatively small compared to the other spots you mention, however it is very impressive. The Piazza della Rotunda is filled with places to relax and have a drink to end a day's sightseeing. It's probably my personal favorite place in Rome. Do everything else then end up at the Pantheon.

If visiting in the summer I would do the forum as early as possible to avoid the heat of the day. There is really no shade there and it gets incredibly hot. While in that area I would then visit the palatine hill and the colosseum. I would visit the pantheon during the heat of the day to get out of the sun. donna
