Rome Public Transportation Questions

Hello all. Can someone help with the following questions?...
I will be getting a weekly transit pass for Rome's public tranportation but I need to know what it does/does not cover. Does it cover the Leonardo Express train that takes you to and from the airport and city center? Also, I will be going back and forth between Rome and as far as the western coast (i.e. Acilia and Ostia Antica) during my visit. Does the weekly pass cover those trips or are they separate "zones" since they are outside the city? Does the pass cover just busses and the metro or are the local trains included also?
Last, I would like to get the Roma pass to save on sites, but does anyone have a suggestion since it seems like having a Roma pass and a weekly transit pass would be overlapping?
I have researched but am having a hard time finding answers.
Thanks!

When you get a map of the transit system, a zone will be delineated, your pass covers all of this. It does cover the Buses, The Metro, the Trams, and local trains for stops within the zone.

As for specific areas you mention,

The Leonardo Express is not included, as the airport is conveniently outside the zone.

Both Acilia and Ostia Antica are in the zone, so good, but Lido di Ostia is not.

Compare the costs, you may consider just a three day transit pass in addition to the Roma Pass.

The website www.atac.roma.it has details about the Roma Pass and the various transit pass options. Supplement the 3 day pass you'll receive with the Roma Pass with daily passes - 4 euro for 1 day, 11 euro for 3 days or 16 euro for 1 week. Note that all transit passes expire at midnight, so keep that in mind when deciding how many days you'll need. You may need to buy passes at a ticket window or from a ticket machine, as many tabaccio shops sell only single trip tickets.

I guess I may need to correct myself, the map I have does include the Lido di Ostia stops, I would verify when you get the map with your pass.

Yes Paul, you're correct on your update. The Lido train will take you all the way to the beach on your ATAC metro/bus ticket. This is how we get to the beach when we do not ride our motorino... on a Saturday AM, the train is packed with folks carrying umbrellas, coolers, etc.
