I am looking for a private taxi company in Rome where I can schedule an early pick up from my hotel and take me to Termini Station for a 5:35am train. I have used Rome Cabs and Suntransfers, but they seem to only be geared toward airport transfers. There is a taxi stand near my hotel, I have stayed there before, but often there are no taxis there that early. I use the Free Now app when I am in Rome but I can't seem to find a booking option for dates in the future. Any websites or apps you can suggest would be appreciated.
Jack, why don't you have your hotel book you a cab? You could ask them kindly, the day before you need it, if they'd do that for you. I don't think it's an uncommon request.
Thank you, Kathy. I am sorry that I did not mention this in my post. I did contact the hotel and, after several emails, they seem to only offer airport transfers. The language barrier was significant but I think we communicated well enough for me to make that understanding. Again, thank you for your reply.
I used Free Now in Italy this fall. I think you can only book 3 days in advance.
Have your hotel call for a car.
When we were there in June, we stayed out in the suburbs at a Crown Plaza resort. The front desk had a terminal that called for taxi's, and we were always picked up within 5 minutes. And they do service both airports.
Ruth- thanks, I will look into that.
David- our hotel only does airport transfers. Its a 500 year old building near Piazza Navona and it only has 6 rooms on one floor.
Thanks for the info.
I would second an app like FreeNow or even Uber, which is more like Uber Black, reserved ahead. Edit: MyTaxi is another app used frequently.
You will pay more than going to a taxi rank, and depending on time there may be a surcharge. I find it it odd the hotel can not call a taxi, when on site, ask again. Yes, they do probably have someone that does their airport transfers, but any desk should be able to call a cab.
I've stayed in a number of hotels that didn't staff the reception counter 24 hours a day.
Have you thought of taking a bus? There are several routes in the city center that go to Termini, such as #'s 64 and 40.
Thank you everyone. I appreciate the many useful responses.

To the right of Where To? There is a small icon of a cab with a clock - it will allow you to schedule a future ride.

Buses start running at 5:30, yes? OP needs to be at Termini for a 5:35 train. So may not be practical unless they are near one of the Owl night routes.
In the morning of your departure go downstairs to the reception desk and ask the hotel desk to call a taxi for you. You don’t need to tell them where you are going, just ask for a taxi. When the taxi arrives (at that time it will arrive within 5 minutes) you tell the taxi driver to take you to Termini. If you want you can do the same on FreeNow or ItTaxi app or simply call yourself on your phone (they have the English operator option. That’s all folks!
I believe Bus 64 runs 24-7 or close to it. The ATAC site should have the schedules. Many workers in Rome depend on the buses and work long and early hours.
