We are traveling to Rome in May for the first time, and just have a couple days. We've booked a private tour of the Vatican, and will also see the Borghese. We're staying near the Pantheon so will tour this on our own. But I have very limited mobility, and cannot walk all over Rome to see the amazing sites. We're considering a private golf cart tour so we can at least see more of Rome, including the colosseum. Does anyone have thoughts on these tours? I know it's not the best way to see the sites, but I like the idea of not having to walk everywhere. Or would you suggest a private car tour? Thank you.
Hard to say without seeing the details of the tour. Many sights in central Rome are not accessible by car, and traffic is typically crazy. The golf carts get a few more places, but even they have limits, but I suspect the tour involves walking as well (Just thinking, but I doubt they drive a cart past the Trevi fountain given the congestion in that area).
In the end, if the cost is acceptable, and you have the time and interest, go for it.
