Rome Pirvate Tour Guide

Hello all, Traveling with a group of travelers that don't get around to fast to Rome in May (some older, and some larger folks). We were thinking about hiring a private guide for half a day to go at our own pace (thinking Collesium?) Anyone have any experiences, or suggestions, or know a great tour guide? :)

I haven't been yet (going in May) but my family and I have hired a guide because Rome seems overwhelming to me. I heard very good things on this forum about a guy named Ron --- Ron in Rome. Google it and you will get his web page. I have had a few communications with him and he sounds just great. And, his prices are wonderful (full day 8:45 - 5:30 for 100 euro for all four of us). If you try to reach him now, though, you will get a message saying he is out until April 15 (he's traveling). Might give him a try. All the best.

Hi, you could try Kiron (kironr@aol.com). She was raised mostly in Dallas, educated in England, and currently lives in Rome....She's a liscensed guide and (obviously) speaks perfect english! We're planning to meet up with her this summer too!

Chris, We used Rome Walks and had Julia Charity as our guide for the Colosseum/Roman Forum/Palatine Hill area. She was incredible. Passionate about the topic. We were on a group tour but they also do private tours as well. Julia is English but has lived in Rome for 8+ years and has a degree in Italian Art and Literature (or something like that). I highly recommend her.

FYI - I contacted Ron, but he's booked all but the "tentative" day we might arrive in Rome early. Doh.

Trying to contact the others after Easter. Thanks!
