Rome Pass Question

I've been reading your many helpful posts and appreciate your wonderful advice!

We are a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 teens) staying for 5 nights near the Lido so we will be commuting into Rome for 4 or 5 days in June. We plan to visit the Colosseum, forum, etc. and probably another museum or 2 (we don't have reservations yet for the Borghese but may try once we get there if possible). So shouldn't we purchase the Rome Pass? We will need to use the subway & bus daily and it seems like this would be an economical way for us to see Rome.

Thanks to Ron and all for your help so far!

Definitely, get the Roma Pass. We were in Rome in April and were able to schedule the Borghese in 2 days. Not sure how feasible that is in June. We ordered the pass on line prior to departure to Italy. If you first use the pass for the Colosseum, forum one day and the Borghese the next, the pass pays for itself, plus you get to skip the lines at Colosseum and forum. The Bernini sculptures in the Borghese are beyond breathtaking. Plus you have the 3 days of metro and bus pass. Just make sure you plan well, as the pass is good for 3 consecutive days.

Just an FYI - the two places I would recommend to use the Roma Pass are at the Colosseum/Palatine Hill/Forum ... and the Borghese Museum - just as Karen is planning. The first costs 11 Euro and the latter costs 13.50E now (Seasonal Price change takes place May 22, prior to that tickets are only 8.50E)...

So if you do these sites, you pretty much get three days of bus/metro for free! So it makes sense to buy the pass if you plan on going here!

And Carol is correct, the Bernini sculptures at Borghese are INCREDIBLE!! And they have a bunch of Caravaggio's at Borghese - one of my favorite painters! Well worth the trip!

Ciao,
Ron

Thanks again for your advice!

Do you think we can wait till we get to Rome to buy the Rome Pass? We leave in 1 week. If so, where should we go to buy it? If not, how should I buy it online?

We just returned and bought the Roma Pass at the Borghese ( I would call them and make a reservation esp in June) and then used it at the Colleseum/forum/palatine hill....the free use of the subway and bus was great..and then we used it for a discount at the castle...so definitely yes worth it as it pays for itself and lets you skip the line at the colosseum after getting thru security
