I am going to be in Rome next month and have some time for solo touring during the day(s). I plan to go to the Pantheon one day. What other "must see" sites are within walking distance of the Pantheon?
Most sites are within walking distance of the pantheon. It really depends on how much time you have. It'll take about half an hour to walk to the colosseum, vatican or Borghese gallery. These are the farthest "main" sites out from the pantheon. Just grab a guide book and decide what it is you really want to see and have the time to see. You can use viamichelin.com to get walking directions and times for each trip. Donna
Most of Rome is must see and it is all very walkable. Remember that is all they were doing 2000 years ago. The Pantheon, at best, is an hour visit so you can hit any number of areas during that day. Just get a good map.
Thanks Donna and Frank. I have researched the big must sees but am looking specifically for things very close to the Pantheon such at Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. Or, if I walk towards the Via Del Corso, can anyone suggest good shopping there?
San Luigi dei Francesi Church is supposed to be fantastic but it has weird hours so we missed it on our trip . Hope to see it this year.
The ceiling of Sant'Ignazio is spectacular http://www.360cities.net/image/church-of-san-ignazio-rome#-234.20,-90.00,70.0
Trevi Fountain and grab a slice of pizza and a gelatto while you are there.
